What this is

PriceOnRecord records fragrance prices daily and calls something a deal only when that product's own recorded history says so. Deal alerts will post to Bluesky; the full standard they have to clear is on the methodology page.

It exists because discount-fragrance pricing runs on reference prices nobody can check — a percentage measured against a number that is never actually charged. The fix for an unfalsifiable claim is a record, so that is what this site is building. For how that reference-price problem actually works, see how discounting works.

Who runs it

PriceOnRecord is run by Ross Thompson. It is a small independent project, built on the position that a price claim you cannot check is not information. Contact: contact@priceonrecord.com.

The conflict we actually have

Commission rates differ by retailer, so when the same product qualifies at two retailers at similar prices, the link will go to the one that pays more. What that cannot influence is qualification itself: whether a price clears the bar is decided by the recorded price history alone, which contains no commission data and never sees any. That is the whole conflict. We would rather name it than have you discover it.
